Silane Shrinkage

Hello Everybody

We are experiencing high shrinkage with silane insulation material. We have increased the tension at the take up but after a couple of days the material becomes very loose affecting the next process of stranding the insulated cables.

If any of you have any comments how to solve this problem, I will appreciate it

NOTE: The silane used for insulation is a material produced using infusion technology (PE+silane+catalyst) in the same pellet; before we used sioplas materials (PE+Silane) + (catalysts)

Assuming I understand your description correctly, I would imagine that the wire is far too hot when spooled. When the wire cools, it becomes loose on the spool.

Lots of cable manufacturer live this problem while using one pack systems.You should ask the gel content of xlpe to your supplier cause shrinkage problem is related to crosslink rate also we have tried pre-heater system for copper wire.it also effect to shrinkage positively.
