Crosshead heating oil was created by Archived Forum Admin
Can someone suggest suitable oil which can be heated by immersion heaters and then pumped to maintain cross head temperature around 175 degrees Centigrade.
Most of the oils we use disintegrate and generate carbon deposits which choke the cross head
Thanking you

Hello Naren
You should also contact your extruder manufacturer and clearly discuss the problem in detail with them first. Be very concerned about the watt density of your heating elements because it may be too high for the heat transfer fluid you are using right now
You may also wish to contact other companies such as:
Duratherm Extended Life Fluids at www.heat-transfer-fluid.com/
and/or Radco Industries Inc.at www.radcoind.com/
Remember however that the fluids must be completely compatible with all the materials in your system, including the flexible tubing to the cross head.
