EAB for drawn copper wire was created by Archived Forum Admin
What are the factors affecting Elongation at break of drawn wire? Does it depends only upon annealing current?

Hello again Kishor,

Annealing is a time - temperature relationship (e g heat and time). Your measured elongation is a function of degree of anneal in the copper, the impurities in the copper, accidental (partial) elongation of the wire before the test and physical damage to the sample.

Did you ever consider improving your company's technical library?? Here are the WAI handbooks and videos appropriate to your question.

Nonferrous Wire Handbook Set

Nonferrous Wire Handbook, Vol. 2 - Bare Wire Processing
Nonferrous Wire Handbook, Vol. 3 - Principles and Practice
Note: The Nonferrous Wire Handbook, Vol. 1, has been discontinued.

Two videos - Total running time: 1 hr., 40 min. (NTSC Format)

Dear Peter,
Thanks for your reply. We would like to keep these books, which will help us to gain more knowledge about copper wire. Very soon this set will be with us.
Similarly do you know any book that is mainly related to copper casting? Definitely this set covers both casting and drawing, but we are in copper casting business. Please let me know any book which covers copper rod casting process.

Hi again Kishor,

The 410 page Nonferrous Wire Handbook Volume 1: Nonferrous Wire Rod (1977) is a great resource for the manufacture of wire rod but unfortunately it is out of print.

I used Google and searched for "Out of Print Books" and found Bookfinder.com at: www.bookfinder.com/

I then used the title "Nonferrous Wire Handbook" , Collins, Laurence W., Editor, and found four copies of Volume 1 for sale.

I suggest you buy a good condition copy of one of these books fast before they are all gone now that I have let the information out of the bag so to speak.

Kindest Regards,
