Dummy core for cable was created by Archived Forum Admin
We have been manufacturing low smoke fume cables. We are using dummy cores in cable which have 5 or more cores (insulated conductors?). I want to learn which polyethylene can be used to these produce dummy cores. I have learned that is low density polyethylene. Any advice?

Hi there serdar1970,

Could you please give us some more information regarding the dummy cores?

A) Are the dummy cores say just to give a round core over which to extrude the jacket? OR....

B)Are these dummy cores also to provide a passable low smoke cable core.

If the answer is "B" I would tend towards a highly filled polyolefin like EVA.
